Derick

A native of India, but a world-wide traveller, Derick moved to Pullman with Dorrie (from Clemson) in the pursuit of his own Ph.D. He is a graduate student in Molecular Plant Sciences researching powdery mildew.

In conjunction with Taein, Derick is developing a comparative genomic annotation pipeline for Rosaceae species. In other words, he is designing a bioinformatic tool to identify the powdery mildew genes and locations in Rosaceae from a given gene sequence. In addition, he is also currently designing an annotation pipeline to annotate any kind of Rosaceae sequences not particular for powdery mildew.

Derick has a B.S. in Zoology and M.S. in Microbiology from Maharaja Sayagirao Univeristy, and he previously worked with John Hopkins Univeristy on creating bioinformatic reference databases for both Human Proteins and Breast Cancer.
